Kim Phuc Phan Thi was born and raised in the southeastern region of Vietnam and was a child during the Vietnam War. When she was nine, napalm bombs were dropped on her village, and she was photographed running down a road, screaming from third degree burns to her skin. This photograph became world famous, an iconic image of the horrors of war, and eventually won a Pulitzer Prize. Kim was not expected to live, but after numerous operations and intensive therapy, she was able to return to her village and family two years later. Today, she is a speaker who shares her experiences to help others heal from the pain of war. She and her husband have two sons and reside in the Toronto area of Canada.
